As d3's developers, London design studio United Visual Artists use the software for all their cutting edge installations.
One of the most challenging live projects they've done, UVA were asked to redesign the main stage of the Coachella music festival in Palm Springs last April 2011, as part of the Vice / Intel sponsored Creators Project.
With a specially commissioned soundscape by award winning composer Mira Calix, the cube-like structured stage with sliding doors was not just an elevated performance space for bands: the stage itself became the performer with it's own show which last several minutes and was performed various times during the festival.
From set-up and client approval with d3's previsualiser to the sequencing of the music and driving the 810 Barco Mistrips, 184 Colorblast 12's and many other light fixtures, d3 did an excellent job wowing the crowds and changing the shape of festival stages for good.
