The Melodifestivalen is Sweden's biggest TV show, showcasing a prime time, live broadcast weekly song contest over a period of six weeks. The winner of all rounds, who will be chosen during the last show 11 March 2011, goes on to represent Sweden in the Eurovision song contest, a yearly all-time favourite across Europe.
With multiple performers every show, 3-4 million viewers every week and a live audience of up to 13000 people, there is a lot to organise - and that's where d3 comes in.
Pontus "Bullen" Lagerbielke, d3 operator on the show, says of his experience working for Melodifestivalen: "With it's musical approach to programming d3 instantly caught my eye when I was looking for media servers. There is a lot of video content and never enough time to program. I found d3 stable, easy to use, and it is by far the quickest way to program to the beat of the music I've ever experienced. Support was great - it has been a pleasure to get to know d3."
Equipment used on the show (all supplied by Mediatec):
- 54 square meter of Spider F30, pixel pitch 30mm
- 48 square meter of Flexiscreen, pixel pitch 62.5mm
- 70 square meter of Lighthouse R16, pixel pitch 15.88mm
- 2 d3 media servers, one main and one backup.
