Robbie Williams - X Factor15th October 2009
Using the three-dimensional manufacturing drawings of the X Factor set design, d3 was used to create and visualize the Robbie Williams visuals in real-time, with perfect sync to the beat of the music. With d3's advanced projection system, content could be “virtually projected” onto the complex three-dimensional design, made out of a number of different types of LED screens.
By using d3 the design team could not only visualize the content for their own purpose but also show the client in real-time exactly what it would look like, weeks before the production rehearsals. Mistakes was thereby be avoided and immediate changes were made in front of the client.
d3 was later used to output movies according to the show’s output template which was specified by the technical management. These movies were then played by a conventional media server.
